I've not been present on social media for a while now and I would like to apologise to my followers. It has been a difficult few months and I decided to use what little time I had to actually write. I now have 7 new stories (my mind is too full) and I am working hard to get these finished. I have also been working on a poetry book for all you card crafters out there. I have two offers coming up so keep your eyes on this page for more info on them.
Much of my time recently has been dedicated to researching how to get more reviews. You may think this is easy but I have discovered that very few people leave reviews or even a star rating. so I thought I would come here to have a little rant and explain why these are so important to indie authors.
As an independent author I have to rely on those who read our work to pass on to others what they thought. I have no free money to pay someone to make up reviews and I don't believe this would be ethical anyway. Much of my time is spent staring at a keyboard so I meet few people and I only have a small circle of friends. Usually family and friends are the first to leave a review, however these are understandably biased. Therefore it is down to YOU to help.
I know that in some of my earlier works there are some grammar issues (I'm working on these) and what I write is not to everyone's taste. However even a 2 or 3 star review can help. So I ask all who have read anything I have written, Please leave a review. Think about it. If you're at work and your boss says well done to you, you feel appreciated. You feel valued. If your boss ignores you every day you begin to feel used and forgotten. Simple gratitude for your hard work makes almost anything worthwhile. That's all I am asking for. So next time you read a book consider the effort that went into writing it and show the author that you are grateful. There are many sites you can use to leave the review or star rating and with amazon kindle it is especially easy. Your reviews could mean the difference between someone writing the next best seller or giving up and getting a 9 to 5 job. The power is really in your hands.
Anyway, as I said at the start, More stories and more offers are on the way.
